Lake Habeeb at Rocky Gap Resort

  • Brown Trout
  • Rainbow Trout

Other fish found in the lake include large and small mouth bass, trophy sunfish, black crappie and catfish.

Casselman River

One of America's most beautiful rivers. Miles of rolling hills, mountains in every direction, quaint towns, and fishable water everywhere.

Adult hatchery brown and rainbow trout are stocked each spring and fall. Many of these trout are truly trophy size, many of which are greater than 5 pounds! Other fish found in the river include catfish, large and small mouth bass and crappie.

Frommer's said: Fish tales include catches of up to 40 fish a day - and fly-fishing with the bears. One thing is for certain, though: The Casselman is a great place to fish.

Featured on ESPN's Fly fishing America, the Casselman is truly an amazing river that is great for fly fishing beginners. Ranging from 30-70 feet wide, and easily accessible, the Casselman is a "must fish" river.

The Casselman flows through a wide valley filled with hardwood forests and Amish farmlands, its banks lined with alders and wildflowers, providing a setting that is hard to match in this age of fast food and urban development. The Casselman River is a fairly wide stream, and has quite a variety of habitat types. Anglers will find long productive riffle sections, deep runs, large deep holes, and even some pocket water. The streambed consists of mainly cobble-size stone, and wading is a bit easier than compared to other Mid-Atlantic rivers.

Savage River

A nationally-acclaimed trophy area for trout as rated by USA Today and many other independent fishing journals. Consistently rated as one of the best trout streams in the East.

The natural beauty of the land bordering the Savage River adds to the fishing experience. Heavily forested hillsides of hardwoods and hemlocks along with thick stands of rhododendron and mountain azaleas border this river. The river averages about 55 feet in width, and has a moderate to steep gradient. The river's substrate is composed mainly of boulders and cobble, providing an abundance of pocket water habitat for trout.

The Maryland State record for a rainbow trout was caught in the Savage at 14 lbs. 3 oz.!!!

Brook, brown and rainbow trout are in abundance. Your arms will get tired fishing this river!

North Branch of the Potomac River

The North Branch of the Potomac River (especially below the Jennings Randolph Dam) has enjoyed popularity for its small mouth bass and record-setting brown and cutthroat trout.

A great river with easy access from many locations. The scenic beauty is spectacular and the varied landscape allows for many types of fishing: fly and lures.

You can achieve the "Grand Slam" of Eastern fishing as this river has the four types of trout: cutthroat, brown, rainbow, and brook trout.

The headwaters provide for a remote fishing location that is only accessible by hiking. You'll be rewarded with scenic beauty and solitude.

Known also for whitewater rafting, the North Branch is a sportsman's paradise that can be enjoyed by the entire family.
