Visitors to Rocky Gap State Park can enjoy a plethora of recreational activities. Boaters and fishing enthusiasts will find plenty to see and do on Lake Habeeb, a 243-acre lake. Hiking and mountain biking are also popular activities, and so are hunting and bird watching. Maryland Recreation and Parks also runs a fine interpretive program and aviary, where visitors can sign up for ranger-led hikes and lectures.
 

C&O Canal Park.

The C&O Canal, more formally known as the Chesapeake & Ohio Canal National Historical Park, spans over 184 miles, and is a significant section of Cumberland, Maryland. Hikers, mountain bikers, bird watcher, and equestrians find endless possibilities for memorable outdoor experiences while exploring the C&O Canal. Not only is the Park an amazing setting; it's also an important reminder of Western Maryland's past, when the Canal was the lifeline of so many families and individuals.

Great Allegheny Passage.

The Great Allegheny Passage, is a breathtaking place to visit with the family. The Passage consists of 150 miles of trails and some parts are still being constructed. In winter, throw on a pair of cross-country skis or snowshoes, and see parts of the Passage in a whole new light. In warm-weather months, the Great Allegheny Passage is an ideal destination for bikers, and hikers.
